Tiger Woods has won eight times at Torrey Pines during his illustrious PGA Tour career, the most notable of which was when he won the US Open on one leg in 2008.
Woods also won the Farmers Insurance Open, or Buick Invitational as it was known when Tiger won it, seven times.
Given his success on this San Diego jewel, you could say Torrey Pines owes him very little.
That’s not to say it’s been perfect. One shot slipped away from him as his ball failed to go down for an eagle-two on the par-4 2nd hole during his final round at the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open.
The unfortunate play came when Tiger skipped his wedge into the green. It didn’t quite go as planned though. His shot gave a single bounce, went into the cup, and then bounced right back out.
Torrey Pines, along with Bay Hill and Firestone, is one of three PGA Tour sites where Woods has won eight times.
Woods has 82 PGA Tour victories, which he shares with the late great Sam Snead.
Despite appearing in the PNC Championship with his son Charlie Woods at the end of 2021, the 15-time major champion remains on the sidelines.
Team Woods did an outstanding job, coming in second behind John Daly and his son John Daly II.
According to Woods’ close friend and former PGA Tour winner John Cook, Woods may not compete again until the PNC Championship in December 2022.
Woods has stated that he would like to compete in the 150th Open Championship, which will be held at St Andrews in July.
